Agave americana 'Variegata'

The Agave americana Variegata isa mutation offspring from the Agave americana blue-green mother plant that is very similar in form and growth to the parent agave, except that variegated ribbon-like, stripes surround each leaf margin, that transform each agave plant into a spectacular specimen when planted in the landscape or in a container. The cold hardiness of 5 degrees F. makes the Agave americana Variegata tolerant to cold temperatures in much of the US. The leaf margins may be striped either with a yellow or a white stripe. Suitable to grow in 5 degrees F., temperatures.

The variegated Agave americanca is very colorful to plant in the landscape or as a xeric containerized ornamental to use indoors. The creamy white striping on the leaves turns pure white in full sunlight, and mature plants can grow large.
