The Algerian Ivy vine (Hedera canariensis) is an African ivy import that spreads fast to cover everything in its path. During the hot summers Algerian ivy can be planted on walls of houses to cool the houses down. Planting Algerian Ivy vines will reduce your air conditioning power cooling bills during the summer, and the complex lobed leaves of this ivy plant add an extra layer of deflective, sun ray heating that would have been absorbed into the house. This fast growing vine will remain evergreen even during the coldest weather in the more Northern States and growth can be expected to continue in the winter.
