The Jekyll Island Vine is a cross vine selection made by Dr. Dirr of UGA., while he was bicycling the roads of beautiful and historic Jekyll Island, Georgia. Profuse clusters of trumpet, funnel-shaped flowers appear in the late spring season and continue to flower throughout the summer. The Jekyll Island Vine is frequently planted at the entrances to private hotel suites. This vine will make a unique and beautiful addition to your landscape. The Jekyll Island Vine can rapidly climb up solid rock walls as tall as 20 ft tall in just one growing season.

• The Jekyll Island vine is a very fast growing plant with clusters of brilliant orange flowers at the terminal branches. Each delicate flower is trumpet shaped and the unbelievable, showy flowering climax is continuous from May until November, ending only with the first frost. The robust green veined leaves can completely cover a fence or trellis rapidly and the privacy screen not only blocks out automobile fumes of toxic exhaust gases, and the street noise is muffled and reduced by the tropical thick leaves. Numerous soil profiles are satisfactory - even heavy clay soils - for the quick growing Jekyll Island vines, and the vines grow vigorously in partial shade or full sunshine, but lingering flowering is best, when the vines are exposed to the full sun. The Jekyll Island vine climbs easily by twisting bundles around stems and by fastening the vigorous rootlets into trees or brick walls. Song birds find nesting in the dense tangles of leaves and twisted stem bundles, and the Jekyll Island vine can climb a thirty (30) foot tree in only two years.
