The Wildlife chestnut is well known for attracting wildlife, especially squirrels, birds and wild boar. The chestnut tree is thickly foliage for good shade and chestnut production, and grows best when planted in pairs or multiples. Chestnut wood and bark both have a high tannin concentration, however, it is heavily acidic which tends to peak once the tree matures to around 30 years old. Chestnuts have a very high amount of starch that is very beneficial to wildlife animals metabolism, and the nuts can be ground into a powder and used to make bread for human consumption. As the chestnuts age and dry out after maturing on the tree they actually become more nutritious for the wildlife animals.• The Wildlife Chestnut Tree has proven successfully to be resistant to the chestnut bark disease and is a prolific bearer of large nuts, and the trees grow well from ME to GA and will reach heights 30-50 ft. tall at maturity. The leaves of the Wildlife Chestnut Tree have beautiful colors and the tree produces large, delicious chestnuts, and the Tree produces best when planted in full sun and are ideally suited to sandy, well-drained soils and are adaptable to most any growing condition. Wildlife Chestnut tree leaves turn vibrant red and yellow colors in the fall, a sign of the changing weather.
