The Thomas Black Walnut, Juglans nigra 'Thomas,' is America's favorite walnut. The Thomas Black Walnut trees often bears nuts the first year if you plant large, bearing-sized grafted trees when compared to other types of walnut selections that are grown from the seed. The nuts from this tree are only medium in size, but the quality, taste and easy shelling characteristic of the Thomas black walnuts makes up for the smaller sized nuts. This selection was made many decades ago from many American black walnut seeds that were planted, it was noticed how quickly the young tree began to bear walnuts.

Delivery Time: Nut Trees ordered during their current shipping season (usually December through April) are shipped dormant within ten days of the date of order, weather dependent. The actual delivery time will usually be within four to seven days following the date of shipping by Ty Ty Plant Nursery. Pruning Information: Pruning may be required on Walnut trees constituting eight feet or more in size so as to comport with UPS Shipping requirements. For this reason, the Walnut tree(s) you receive may not be the actual height you ordered due to it being pruned up to one third of the total size immediately prior to shipping unless you have made prior arrangements with us to ship the product to you by motor freight. Although you should receive the size ordered if shipped by motor freight, note that shipping by motor freight will likely increase your shipping costs.
Shipping Method: UPS Ground and Motor Freight if the proper arrangements have been made by the customer prior to shipping. Shipping costs do apply on Motor Freight shipments, not covered by any sales promotions.

If plants are listed by gallon size the plant will be removed from container and have the majority of the dirt removed to allow for the best shipping.
