The Red Trumpet Vine, (Campsis radicans) is native to the United States and is extremely cold hardy, surviving even as far North as Canada. The flowers form in large clusters of trumpet shapes that bloom continuously during the summer. The flowers constantly remain fresh looking, since after a short time of blooming, they continuously fall to the ground and form blankets of huge red circles underneath pine trees. The falling red trumpets are rapidly replaced by new opening red buds. The red flowers climbing a pine tree top is sometimes so intense that some passersby viewers think that the pine tree itself is flowering. The trumpet vines can live to an old age and the vine grows in diameter sometimes as large as your leg. This vine is very drought resistant.
