The Latham raspberry plants were first cultivated as a hybrid selections in 1920 in Minnesota, and predictably this raspberry bush is very cold hardy, reaching the extreme Northern
States requirement for cold Winter temperatures. The berries of the Latham raspberry plant ripen in mid-season, and then continue to ripen for long periods during the raspberry season. The full-flavored, aromatic Latham raspberry plants are upright, highly productive plants, and are extremely frost-proof. They ripen evenly during the last days of June and early July with a three week extended period of maturation. The berry is extremely flavorful being intensely sweet when fully ripe, and the berries are of medium size. The canes of the Latham raspberry plants are almost thornless, and the large berries grow in tight crowded clusters.
