The Mock Orange shrub has blossoms in late Spring which smell of the fruiting orange blossoms and attract butterflies and caterpillars. This variety blooms heavily and spreads by seeding and underground sprouting. Mock Orange trees provide shelter for small wildlife and are dense enough to use as a privacy screen. Adaptable to imperfect conditions, the Mock Orange will thrive and requires very little attention. This shrub is commonly in bloom as a background shrub, as amaryllis begin blooming in April.
• The Mock Orange Shrub produces flowers that are beautiful and aromatic like the flowers on fruiting orange trees, and often is called "mock orange." The 'Natchez' Mock orange is a special hybrid that is a very heavy bloomer. The blooms produced by the Mock Orange will quickly light up your landscape with beautiful colors. The flowers of the Mock Orange Shrub Plant makes excellent cut flowers, and grows up to 12 ft. tall in height. Philadelphus x virginalis is vigorous and upright in its growth habit, and the flowers of natchez are pure white with buttery-yellow stamens.
