The Cecil Houdyshel Crinum Lily bulb grows into very large bulbs that can weight about five pounds each, and it blooms repeatedly all during the spring and summer. This classic Crinum that was introduced as a selection in the early 1900's was chosen from as the best choice from thousands of crinum seedlings from crosses of C. bulbispermum. The Cecil Houdyshel Crinum Lily bulb is a sensational pink cross that was made available commercially in large numbers and met with a great success as a mail order plant. The leaves are almost evergreen in winter.
• As a fresh cut flower Crinum, unopened buds will open with bright pink blooms readily if placed in full lighted windows. The flower stalks of the Cecil Houdyshel Crinum lily bulb can grow up to six feet tall. A huge bulb planting of Crinum x Cecil Houdyshel begins flowering in April and blooms again and again until Fall.
• The Cecil Houdyshel Crinum was selected almost a century ago from hundreds of seedlings of the Crinum x Powellii pink crosses. This Crinum is still today one of the most reliable bloomers and are highly recommended for massive plantings in large landscape beds.
