Size: These trees typically grow to a modest size, reaching heights of 10-15 feet with a slightly spreading canopy. This stature is perfect for both prolific harvests and providing an eye-catching focal point for your garden.
Chill Hours: Orange Quinces require approximately 400-600 chill hours, which means they're well-suited for areas with distinct winter seasons. Adequate chilling hours are essential for blooming and setting fruit.
Planting: Choose a sunny location in your garden with well-draining soil. Proper spacing, typically 10-12 feet apart, ensures good air circulation and minimizes the risk of diseases.
Pruning: Regular pruning helps shape the tree, promote fruiting, and maintain overall health. Prune during the dormant season, removing dead or overcrowded branches.
Watering: Consistent moisture during the growing season is crucial, especially when the tree is young. Deep watering helps establish a strong root system. Once established, quince trees are relatively drought-tolerant but benefit from supplemental watering during dry periods.
